(Un)recognized projection

This piece speculates on the gentrification process in Bangkok’s Charoen Krung district through a process-based installation on the 9th floor of the BACC. The installation, assembled and disassembled over a three-month exhibition period, featured images documenting the neighborhood. These images gradually accumulated, picture by picture, covering a provided structure. Simultaneously, the ongoing installation process was documented and posted on the wall behind the scaffolding. Each picture bore the word ‘Today’ at its bottom. The artist dismantled the installation as part of a performance one day before the exhibition concluded. What remained were a few photographs that bore witness to their own existence. Through the process of installing and deinstalling the scaffolding, the transformation of the space mirrored the ever-changing neighborhood, driven by the very creative forces it explored.
